The winner of the Captain’s Council Election announces; is this good news for GW2 gold farmers?

Players of Guild Wars 2, AreaNet already reveals the winner of Captain’s Council Election. And the winner is Captain Ellen Kiel of the Lionguard.  The announcement is just in time for the new Queen’s Jubilee content update.

After Ellen received her newly appointed position in the council, she is already working to fulfill her campaign promise to the players, starting with a reduction in waypoint travel prices for four weeks (that’s a good news for players who want to save their GW2 gold). She's also pushing for the expansion of Fractals into Thaumanova Reactor, introducing a rotating schedule of activities such as Southsun Survival, and reducing the mill rate in Lion's Arch by 7%. Players probably won't care about that last one, but they can still look forward to seeing what other impacts Kiel's newfound station will have in the future.

A victory message from the honorable Captain Ellen Kiel

“People of Lion’s Arch,
I am deeply honored to take a seat at the Captain’s Council. Your support was crucial in securing the trade deal with the Zephyrites, and I won’t forget the faith you showed in me. Now the real work begins.
I am going to enact the following changes:
  • I’ll reduce waypoint travel prices for four weeks’ time.
  • I’ll support important Fractals of the Mists research into the Thaumanova Reactor explosion by the end of the year.

GW2: Living story to urge a lot of serious, additional permanent, and more personal, and probably a lot more GW gold

An interview on U.S. Gamer with ArenaNet Game Director Colin Johanson serves as a stimulating follow-up to his Guild Wars 2 coming up with post from earlier this month. In it he addresses the direction that the living story is taking moreover as his intention to overhaul several of the game's dungeons.

Johanson said that the team is responding to feedback by operating to create GW2's living story matter additional to the player with a lot of serious stories which will "blend" with the player's own personal story. He reiterated that ArenaNet has great plans to use the living story to form the game's future: "There is now, and certainly will be a lot larger focus on ensuring that the content we're building is creating experiences that people can permanently have when they come back two years later. Instead of saying, 'I see something that happened two years ago but i can't experience it,', we want players to say, 'I'm playing this and I’m playing it as a result of something that happened two years ago.'"

Make the dungeons more profitable; a good news for GW2 gold farmer

Guild Wars 2 Lead Designer Isaiah Cartwright has a few (but just a few) words to say regarding the changes that ArenaNet is planning for its dungeons. Dungeon running should be more profitable, awarding additional GW2 gold for a successful run. The team is limiting full rewards for each dungeon path to a 24-hour timer in order to encourage players to try different paths.

"Our goal is to make each and every dungeon path feel enticing and rewarding," Cartwright said. "We also want the rewards structure to encourage players to enjoy a variety of dungeon paths." - AreaNet

ArenaNet is additionally giving champion mobs dashing loot containers so players can kill the creatures and pry the boxes from their clawed hands. These containers are going to be tailored to the type of mob they are available from, giving players a strategic alternative in selecting champions to murder.

Champion Rewards equals more GW2 gold

All champions in the game will drop a new loot container based on their type. For example, champion bandits will drop a new Embroidered Coin Purse which will contain a few silver, some karma, and crafting materials, with a chance at skill points, rare crafting materials, and new, rare weapon skins. Their goal is to better balance the risks and rewards for fighting champions. This will also make the events that scale to include multiple champions, like those in Orr and Southsun Cove, more rewarding.

Runescape 3 Is Here

Look at that trailer. That's the bold future of the world's most popular free-to-play MMO. A future I look forward to experiencing should this black screen issue ever get resolved.

The third major update (counting Runescape HD) to Jagex's original free-to-play sensation has launched as promised, but I am not seeing any of these fancy new browser-based graphics. I am seeing this:

I see it for about 10 minutes, and then I am logged out. Checking the game's forums for solutions, I found quite a lot of folks are having the same issues. Those that manage to actually get into the game are seeing disconnects, or are just generally disappointed with the user interface. Looks fine to me. Nice and streamlined, without all of those nasty graphics getting in the way.

Jagex is aware of the issues, and is looking to make their game work. Here's the post in that same thread from mod Raven:

We do know about the issues and we are doing everything we can to resolve them.Unfortunately, no amount of testing can match up to thousands of players attempting the content at once.We are looking into the issues and working on them as fast as we can. Please be patient. If you are currently unable to log into the game, I recommend waiting until a little later when the initial rush has subsided. The world event will be around for a while, don't worry. For those of you who would like the old interface back, please take a look at the available presets as we have a preset that duplicates the functionality of the old interface.Again sorry for the inconvenience.
